Abstract:
Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technology offers a promising solution to the energy needs of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which are increasingly deployed in a wide range of applications, from smart homes and healthcare to industrial automation and environmental monitoring. The traditional reliance on batteries presents challenges such as limited lifespan, maintenance, and environmental concerns. WPT enables the delivery of power without physical connectors, thereby eliminating the need for frequent battery replacements and reducing maintenance costs.
This paper explores the various WPT methods, including inductive coupling, resonant inductive coupling, radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting, and microwave power transmission, analyzing their suitability for powering IoT devices. The paper also addresses the challenges associated with WPT, such as power transfer efficiency, distance limitations, alignment issues, and safety concerns. Furthermore, the integration of WPT with IoT devices is discussed, highlighting potential applications, energy management strategies, and future research directions.
