INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the increasing importance of science education in national development, there has been growing concern over the quality of science education programmes in Nigerian institutions, including Enugu State College of Education. The challenges facing these programmes range from a shortage of qualified science teachers, outdated teaching materials, poor laboratory facilities, and an insufficient emphasis on practical skills development. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the science education programme in Enugu State College of Education. Specifically, the study aims to:

Evaluate the availability and condition of laboratory facilities for practical science teaching.

1.5 Significance of the Study
This study is significant for several reasons.
